NORTHAMPTON TOWN PARTNERSHIP WITH COMMSAVE OFFERS MORE THAN FOOTBALL!

The Northampton Town Community Trust have delivered 75 Free NHS Health Checks to staff at Commsave Credit Union.

Over two periods, including three dates last week, the Northampton Town Community Trust have delivered free NHS Health Checks at the Commsave Credit Union site which help spot early signs of long-term health conditions, reduces workplace absenteeism, and provides the opportunity for adults to receive health advice without having to book a GP appointment.

Commsave is one of the largest credit unions in the UK, with over 34,000 members. They specialise in providing the ability to save and borrow direct from pay to employers all over the UK, such as communication workers, Government departments, and a range of both private and public sector organisations like local authorities, and healthcare providers.

The partnership officially began with Commsave two years ago after the Northampton Town Community Trust Health & Wellbeing Team delivered NHS Health Checks for their staff and members at their old site on Duncan Close, Moulton Park.

NHS Health Checks is a scheme the Northampton Town Community Trust are commissioned to deliver by Public Health North Northamptonshire to help people aged 40–74-year-olds. It’s designed to spot early signs of stroke, kidney disease, heart disease or type 2 diabetes. As we get older, we have a higher risk of developing one of these conditions. An NHS Health Check helps find ways to lower this risk.

Commsave wanted to continue to grow their members and began their partnership following the initial sponsorship of a Northampton Town Women’s player and the training kit for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons. Going on to then become the Northampton Town men’s first team training kit sponsor from the 2023-24 season as well as having a positive branding presence around the stadium and attending matchdays and supporting other community groups.

James Richards, Strategic Partnership Manager at Commsave Credit Union said: “We’re delighted to have worked with the Community Trust to be able to offer health checks to our members and our staff team. We’re always looking for ways to help our people achieve wellbeing, whether that’s physical, mental or financial – it goes to the heart of everything we’re about as an organisation. We’ve had some great feedback from those who had one of the health checks and look forward to offering more opportunities to get checked in the coming months.”

Damon Fox – Business Development Manager at the Northampton Town Community Trust added: “This is actually how our and the club’s relationship began with Commsave back some time ago with NHS Health Checks which was a great way to introduce the range of different projects at the Community Trust. Since then, it led to opportunities with the Northampton Town Women’s team, whom Commsave have been a huge supporter of in a time where the Women’s game continues to grow. It’s great to be able to offer something like this year on year to our partners.”
