Reflecting on the 2022 Kelmarsh Open Season

Member News

This year, Kelmarsh Hall and Gardens welcomed record visitor numbers, which they rely so heavily upon in order to continue opening the Hall and Gardens for the enjoyment of the public. Kelmarsh also had a fabulous array of events in house, including their volunteer lecture series, Jazz in the gardens, Mother’s Day afternoon teas, a fairy picnic and storytelling in the gardens.

At the start of their open season, Kelmarsh were delighted to open up the previously unseen rooms upstairs. This included Nancy Lancaster’s bedroom, a collaboration project with OKA, the reopening of the Yellow Drawing Room, the ‘Story of Kelmarsh Exhibition’ and the volunteers exhibition ‘Coalmarsh’.

In October, the team were thrilled to see Coalmarsh named as ‘Best Volunteer Project’ by the Northamptonshire Heritage Forum 2022 awards, an honour for the Kelmarsh volunteers and team.

Along with their visitor opening, Kelmarsh have hosted lots of fabulous weddings in the Hall and the Orangery, which is is always a delight at Kelmarsh, seeing the Hall filled with love and joy.

Not just a wedding venue, Kelmarsh has seen corporate meetings, charity legacy events and large-scale events on their event site this year. The Hall is a great space for lectures, meetings, seminars and parties, whilst the extensive grounds are a wonderful space for larger events and festivals.

This year, the learning centre has been home to a bi-weekly art class, a lecture seies, corporate meetings and a choir practice space too!

Next year, Kelmarsh hope to welcome many more of these fabulous events, and hope that their visitors will continue to come along and enjoy all that the Hall and Gardens have to offer.

The 2023 open season at Kelmarsh will begin on Easter Weekend, Sunday 9th April, and will run until the end of September. For all information on opening times, and what’s on at Kelmarsh, please visit their website.
