Poppy Design Studio Join Community Litter Pick

Our Marketing Manager, Simon Cox, joined up with a group of willing volunteers recently to help pick up litter around Kettering.

The litter pick, organised by the Rotary Club of Kettering Huxloe, took place in the Grange Pocket Park along Margaret Road and was organised by Kim Parry who is pictured with Simon in this photograph.

Simon and Kim were joined by 21 other members of the local community who all joined in the first litter pick organised by the Rotary Club of 2021 and included volunteers from the Kettering Green Party, Kettering Wombles, Kettering Labour Party, Natural-Ise and the Rotary club of Kettering Huxloe – all coming together to make Kettering tidier.

Taking just over an hour, Simon, who was joined by his daughter Grace and Poppy the dog, managed to collect a bag full of cans, sweet wrappers, crisp packets and sandwich packaging to help clean up the area.

Marketing Manager Simon Cox said

“It was great to see the community coming together to help clean up the area from litter which has been left behind, dropped or simply blown across the area with the wind. It was also lovely to meet other people from the community and we had an enjoyable time.”

“We have committed as a business to help our community where we can and an hour picking up litter to help keep our local communities tidy is something we are happy to commit to more often. We will be looking to join up with other litter picks in the future as part of our “give back” to the community and help do “our bit”

Earlier this year, we joined the Good Business Charter which includes having an environmental responsibility

“Part of our commitment to the environment is to help pick up litter and ensure what we collect is disposed of in the correct manner. This includes separating recyclable and non recyclable waste to help our environment as well as ensuring less litter is left around which endangers wildlife, attracts rodents and leaves our communities looking far more tidier.

By participating in community litter picks, this helps with our commitment as a business with the Good Business Charter which we joined earlier this year and we look forward to participating in future litter picks around our communities.”
