The Lewis Foundation was set up in 2016 by Lorraine and Lee Lewis when Lee’s mum was hospitalised with cancer.

Recognising the fear, upset and loneliness faced by individuals undergoing cancer treatment and their loved ones, the duo was determined that their charity would make a real difference. They set about sourcing donations, packaging and delivering gifts, whilst giving support to patients on oncology wards.

Today The Lewis Foundation has more than 50 volunteers and hundreds of regular supporters – individuals, businesses and former patients and families who give their valuable time, skills and expertise to the charity.

The Lewis Foundation has gone from delivering 80 gift packs a month to one hospital, to delivering over 2,000 gifts to 17 hospitals in the Midlands every month – a total of over 75,000 packs since it began.

As Northamptonshire Chamber Charity of the Year, they will receive complimentary Silver Chamber Partner member to enable them to network with some of the county’s most influential companies as well as receiving complimentary tickets to some of our networking events.

The Silver Chamber partner membership also means the charity’s logo will be featured on the Chamber’s website, company stationery and in various other Chamber publications. The Lewis Foundation will also get guaranteed editorial into our Inbusiness magazine.

Northamptonshire Chamber Chief executive Louise Wall said: “We feel it is important to support county charities and to highlight the contribution they make to our community. “We look forward to working with The Lewis Foundation and helping them to raise their profile and forge new connections with the business community.”

Lorraine Lewis, co-founder and CEO of The Lewis Foundation said: “We are over the moon to have been chosen as the Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce Charity of the Year 2023/24. This title and all the support that comes with it will have such an impact and help us raise awareness of the work we do to provide free gift packs to adult cancer patients in hospital.

“We have ambitious plans in 2023 and beyond to grow The Lewis Foundation and business and corporate partnerships and relationships will be key to that, which is why we’re so thrilled with this announcement. We will get to attend high-profile events and be featured on the Chamber’s promotional materials, communications and literature, which means even more of the county’s top businesses and organisations will be hearing about and seeing our work and all the ways they can support us, from our pop-up shop and café to fundraising and events. 2023 will be an exciting year for us and we are so grateful to Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce for choosing us.”
