What is a B Corp? Certified B Corporations, or B Corps, are companies verified by B Lab as meeting the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability – https://bcorporation.uk/

Why would a business aspire to be a B Corp? There is a growing body of evidence proving businesses who are ‘doing good’ are ‘doing well’. Increased turnover, headcount, reduced attrition rates, easier access to finance, lower debt financing, better employee and community engagement, increased efficiencies and lower operational costs.

How to become a B Corp? The assessment process is free for anyone to access (and confidential). Businesses need to answer questions tailored to the type of business they are, covering all aspects of their business – employees, customers, suppliers, environment and need to achieve over 80 points. It takes time, it’s rigorous and businesses might not make 80 points first time – but the tool gives vital insight into where businesses need to improve.

The B Corp movement  – the aim of the B Corp movement is to redefine success in business . B Corps are the role models of an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economic system. There are over 1,200 certified B Corps in the UK employing more than 55,000 people from 58 different industries. The growth rate is fast with the number doubling in 2022. There are only 10 registered B Corps in Northamptonshire. Together with support from the Chambers and the existing Northants B Corp community, Presidio Consulting would like to help that number increase. Register for my free webinar and find out more!
