CDR Pumps Named Finalists in Prestigious Industry Awards
Member News
The Pump Industry Awards are one of our industry’s most prestigious events, and following a huge number of nominations, are very proud to make it through to the final in three different categories.
Product of the Year and Environmental Contribution of the Year
CDR Pumps’ solids handling mag drive is reinvigorating the centrifugal pump industry as a mag drive pump that can handle up to 30% solids in suspension.
Until now, handling hazardous and toxic fluids with solid particles have traditionally been moved using mechanically sealed pumps with two seals and an external flushing system that need regular monitoring, and may include costly additional ATEX instrumentation. However, this still leads to issues with seal failures.
The Solids Handling Mag Drive Pumps facilitate the free circulation of solids with an open impeller and specially designed diamond-coated SiC bearings which allow solids to pass through the pump. As they are magnetically driven and zero vapour-loss, cross-contamination and expensive seal support systems are eradicated giving a cleaner, safer unit which has zero chance of leaking vapours and particulates that are hazardous to human life and the surrounding environment.
Contribution to Skills and Training
Having provided reliability focussed training on centrifugal pumps for a number of years these training sessions provide project and maintenance engineers insight into understanding the correct operation of pumps, improving plant reliability, and improving plant efficiency in a hands-on and practical way. By looking at the key design features of centrifugal pumps, pump fundamentals, pump design, problem-solving and failure analysis, attendees are able to troubleshoot common problems on-site before they escalate.
Ashley Fenn has been hugely active in the pump industry since his apprenticeship with LaBour in the late ‘80s and brought the CDR Pumps brand to the UK in the late ’90s. He actively seeks out the issues that are facing pump users and works with plants to find solutions to their problems.
It is common to see equipment running against throttled valves, consuming vast amounts of energy and being accepted as a ‘bad actor’ with regular maintenance regimes required to keep plants operational, these courses are designed to highlight and create awareness of improvements – wasted energy is lost profit!
CDR Pumps have been a leading independent pump manufacturer for the chemical, nuclear and pharmaceutical industries for over 60 years, over twenty of which are from our UK Head Office in Northamptonshire. Since opening its doors in 1998, CDR has gone from strength to strength bringing you a company that has the product, service and knowledge to support the chemical, nuclear and pharmaceutical industries on a global scale, small enough to give each of you the individual care and attention you need yet big enough to pro-actively support multi-site multi-national blue-chip chemical companies.
The team at CDR Pumps have worked hard over the past couple of years and these awards have brought about a big boost. If you have worked with CDR Pumps in the past, or would like to keep up to date with their progress, visit https://www.cdrpumps.co.uk/pump-industry-awards/
