Leading asbestos management consultancy, Acorn Analytical Services, has announced the appointment of a new Associate Director as it sets its sights on further growth.

Freddy Try has joined the Northampton-based business with extensive experience spanning asbestos surveying, operations, account management, project delivery and business development.

In his new role, Freddy will help lead Acorn’s business development activity, oversee key contracts and support the company as it looks to expand its client base, including securing more work with tier-one and infrastructure contractors.

He will also manage and develop members of Acorn’s sales and contracts teams, putting systems and structures in place to help them build their own client relationships and support the company’s long-term growth ambitions.

Freddy began his career in the asbestos industry as a trainee surveyor, learning the profession from the ground up before moving into operations and progressing through positions including Operations Manager, Key Account Manager and Deputy Operations Director before spending four years as a Business Development Manager.

Freddy said: “What attracted me to Acorn was that it’s a business with a real appetite to grow. I felt I could bring value to that, bring experiences I’ve had elsewhere and perhaps introduce some new ideas and different ways of doing things.

“There is a real opportunity to grow the client base and work with larger tier-one and infrastructure contractors, but what’s important to me is that we keep that Acorn family feel. Acorn treats its clients and staff really well and has a lot of good things in place for them. We want to build on that and grow but stay personable at the same time.”

Freddy also said one of Acorn’s strengths is the combination of technical expertise within the business and its focus on making asbestos management straightforward for clients.

He added: “In this industry, you tend to get people who are incredibly technically knowledgeable but find the client-facing side more difficult, or people who are very good at business development but don’t necessarily have the technical experience. My background means I understand both sides. I’ve been out on site and delivered the work, but I also enjoy speaking to clients, understanding what they need and finding a solution for them.”

Sam Savage, Managing Director of Acorn Analytical Services, has previously worked with Freddy and said his experience would be invaluable as the business continues to expand.

He brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise, but importantly, he also understands the way we want to grow Acorn – by continuing to look after our existing clients, developing our people and retaining the personal approach that has always been so important to us.
