A growing family business in Rushden is celebrating after winning two awards at the Northamptonshire Business Awards.

Cleaning and waste management company, Inter County Service Group, walked away with awards for High Growth Business of the Year and The Pinnacle Award.

Judges of the High Growth Business of Year award were looking for organisations that ‘demonstrated the highest levels of growth with a strong plan for sustainable financial performance’.

Inter County was recognised after seeing its workforce grow by almost 57% in just 12 months. This expansion was accelerated by the acquisition of Clean4Shaw Facilities Management in April 2026, which added 147 employees and 198 clients to the business.

Last year’s winner, Matt Dann of Simply Techspace, sponsored the award and presented it to Inter County. He said: “After winning this award last year, we wanted to pass on the baton.”

Later in the ceremony, which was organised by Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce and held at Sywell Aerodrome, Inter County was presented with The Pinnacle Award. Unlike the other award categories, The Pinnacle Award, sponsored by Wilson Browne Solicitors, had no shortlist or finalists. Instead, judges selected one standout winner from all of the entries, who they perceived to be ‘a leading light in business’.

Presenting the award, Kevin Rogers from Wilson Browne Solicitors said Inter County stood out as a company as it ‘had one arm around the past and its eyes on the future’. He recognised how much the family business had grown over almost 50 years but was still evolving its services to meet customer demand and growing through mergers and acquisitions whilst still adhering to its strong family values.

Callum Nicholson, Finance Director at Inter County, said: “We were absolutely delighted to win High Growth Business of the Year, but to then hear our name called for The Pinnacle Award was a complete surprise, which made it a special moment for all of us.

“As a family business with almost 50 years of history behind us, we’re incredibly proud of our heritage and the family values that have shaped Inter County. At the same time, we’re ambitious about the future. We have big plans to continue growing, evolving our services and looking for new opportunities, but we want to do that without ever losing sight of who we are and what has made the business successful – for the judges to have seen and recognised that means the world.”
