Padel Power serves up mental health support with huddleUp
Padel Power, a fast-growing indoor padel venue in that opened in Northampton earlier this year, has become the first racket sports venue in the UK to launch BaseLine powered by huddleUp – an initiative providing its customers with direct access to confidential mental health and wellbeing support.
As padel continues its rapid rise in popularity across the UK, Padel Power is taking its commitment to community one step further by ensuring that everyone who books and plays at the venue has somewhere to turn if they need support, both on and off the court.
Through BaseLine, players will have access to confidential wellbeing support via a dedicated email service, connecting them directly with a trained member of the huddleUp team. From there, individuals can access a range of additional services including counselling and specialist wellbeing support where appropriate.
The partnership marks the latest collaboration for Northamptonshire-based wellbeing organisation huddleUp, following the successful launch of similar initiatives with several other sports clubs and venues across the UK, as it continues its mission to make human-led mental health support more accessible through community organisations and sport.
Grace Lavelle, Director and Venue Manager at Padel Power, said: “We’re delighted to be the first racket sports venue in the UK to offer BaseLine to its customers. Our community means everything to us and we wanted to offer something that goes beyond the court. Sometimes a game of padel and seeing friends is exactly what someone needs. Other times, people need additional support. BaseLine means that support is now only ever an email away.”
Conner Botterill, CEO of huddleUp, added: “Padel venues have become real community hubs. People don’t just come to play sport, they come to socialise, connect and spend time together.
“With the incredible growth of padel, we’re seeing thousands of people walking through these venues every week. Whilst exercise is fantastic for our wellbeing, sometimes people need a little more support, and that’s exactly why we’ve created BaseLine.
“We’re incredibly proud that Padel Power is leading the way in offering this support to its customers.”
To celebrate the partnership, Padel Power will host an official BaseLine launch event on Saturday 12th September, bringing together customers, local businesses and the wider Northamptonshire community.
The evening will feature a padel tournament, fundraising for youth mental health, guest speakers, networking opportunities, food, drinks and entertainment.
The BaseLine initiative has been made possible through the support of S&S Flooring, huddleUp’s Community Wellbeing Partner.
Richard Swann, CEO of S&S Flooring, said: “This is another fantastic partnership that we’re proud to support alongside huddleUp. Together we’re committed to improving wellbeing across Northamptonshire and making support easier to access. I know the team at Padel Power very well after being contracted to install the flooring at their unit on Gladstone Road.
“With this launch, and several more exciting announcements to come, we know we’re going to help thousands of local people and families over the coming months.”
