Lone workers looking for “a network of people for enrichment” should consider coworking at Northampton’s Vulcan Works, according to a businessman who uses the workspace as a base.

Richard Davies, of accountancy and finance recruitment firm Addington Ball, visited the hub in the Cultural Quarter in the summer of 2024, looking for somewhere to call home three days a week while his twin boys were at school in the town.

Logistically, he needed a town centre office space that he could use to work from which also required a certain level of security due to the amount of personal data he works with.

Vulcan Works presented the perfect solution with its members only coworking area and friendly, thriving business community.

Richard said: “It’s perfect. It has all the facilities I need, good WiFi, good security, and a town centre location which means I can do personal errands at lunchtime and I’m easy to find for anyone coming to meet with me.

 

“The people are really friendly and it’s a lovely community here. Working from home is great but having other people to talk to and meeting new businesses is fantastic. If somebody is working as a sole employee in their business and they want a network of people for enrichment, then it’s a great place to be.

 

“From a cost perspective it’s extremely good value – some other places I looked at were twice the price. It works well for me because the boys’ school is on the way and I can park in the nearby St James car park, which gives me extra flexibility too.”
