Leading asbestos management consultancy, Acorn Analytical Services, has strengthened its contracts team with three internal promotions.

The business has grown significantly in the last 12 months, leading to an expansion of its contracts team to meet increasing demand from clients across the UK.

David Kelsey has been promoted to Senior Contracts Manager, while Ellis Bastable and Charlie Dalby have both stepped into the role of Contracts Manager.

The promotions recognise the trio’s dedication, expertise and commitment to the business, while highlighting Acorn’s commitment to developing talent from within.

David joined Acorn almost 13 years ago as one of the company’s first full-time employees, starting as a Dual Consultant before progressing to Contracts Manager and Asbestos Awareness Trainer.

In his new role as Senior Contracts Manager, David will oversee the contracts department, with responsibility for managing two Contracts Managers while ensuring the company’s team of asbestos analysts remain fully utilised across projects nationwide.

David said: “This promotion is a huge recognition of the hard work, commitment and effort I’ve put into Acorn over the last 13 years.

“I’ve been here from almost the very beginning as the company’s first full-time employee, so it’s amazing to see just how far we’ve come in a relatively short space of time.

“My new role brings greater responsibility, particularly around generating revenue and ensuring our analysts have work every day, but it’s a challenge I’m really looking forward to. It also offers me greater flexibility in my working hours, helping me maintain a healthy work-life balance.”

Ellis joined Acorn four years ago as an Asbestos Analyst before gaining his P402 surveying qualification and progressing to Asbestos Consultant.

Now Contracts Manager, he is now responsible for managing clients’ asbestos requirements, coordinating removal works and arranging analytical support.

Ellis said: “Becoming a Contracts Manager means a lot to me because it was always the role I set out to achieve.

“My day-to-day work will change significantly as I’ll be taking on much more responsibility, working closely with clients to manage their asbestos requirements and ensuring projects are delivered smoothly from start to finish.”

Charlie joined Acorn five and a half years ago as a Trainee Analyst before qualifying as an Asbestos Analyst after achieving his P403 and P404 qualifications. During his time at Acorn, he has also gained his P402 qualification, enabling him to become a Dual Consultant.

As Contracts Manager, Charlie now oversees all project management-related business development, including lead generation, client development and identifying new sales opportunities. He is also responsible for ensuring project management and analytical processes are delivered consistently across the team.

Charlie said: “I’m incredibly proud to take on this role. Acorn has always delivered on its promise of promoting from within and it’s great to be part of it.

“This isn’t your average nine-to-five role, but it’s an incredibly enjoyable place to work and I can’t wait to continue this journey.”

Sam Savage, Managing Director of Acorn Analytical Services, said: “These promotions are fantastic examples of what can be achieved at Acorn. David, Ellis and Charlie have each worked incredibly hard to develop their knowledge and skills and build relationships with our clients and it’s rewarding to see them progress into roles where they can have an even greater impact on the business.

“Our contracts team has expanded as the company has grown, but we’ve remained committed to promoting from within wherever possible. We believe that by investing in our people through training, mentoring and clear career pathways, we’re not only helping them achieve their ambitions but also strengthening the service we provide our clients.

“Watching colleagues build long and successful careers with us is something we’re incredibly proud of, and we’ll continue to invest in developing our people as Acorn continues to grow.”
