Why your support matters
Auntie’s Cookery Academy has recently secured its first permanent home. The next challenge is turning an empty room into a fully functioning training kitchen.
The charity is raising funds to purchase essential equipment, including ovens, hobs, cookware, utensils, crockery and everything needed to deliver accredited cookery and independent living courses.
The charity was founded on a simple belief: food poverty and food insecurity are not the same thing.
Food poverty is not having enough money to buy food.
Food insecurity is not having the skills, confidence or knowledge to cook healthy, affordable meals from scratch.
By teaching practical cookery, budgeting and nutrition, Auntie’s Cookery Academy helps young people build confidence, reduce reliance on expensive convenience foods and develop the skills they need for independent adulthood.
