Third year of Charity Tuesdays backs three new charities

Innovative town centre office hub Vulcan Works has chosen a trio of Northamptonshire charities to support this summer in its third year of fundraising initiative, Charity Tuesdays.
In the summer of 2024, the workspace, which is in the heart of Northampton’s Cultural Quarter, launched its popular Charity Tuesday scheme, which sees Vulcan Works offer free hotdesking in its coworking space every Tuesday, in exchange for a nominal charity donation.
Since then, Vulcan Works has raised hundreds of pounds for worthwhile local causes including Cynthia Spencer Hospice, Baby Basics, and Breast Friends.
This summer, the centre has chosen three new charities to back during June, July and August. Each one will have a month-long tenure as the chosen charity, and coworkers who want to hotdesk can donate a minimum of £10 to the designated cause to be able to use the space.
First up in June is Kids Aid, who support traumatised children and young people with the aim of improving poor mental health and future life prospects.
KidsAid envision a world where every child affected by trauma has the opportunity to heal, grow, and thrive. The charity, based in Northampton, provides children across the Midlands with the time, resources, and care they need to build a better future.
In July, all proceeds will go to NAB Sight Support for Northamptonshire, which helps people with visual impairments to live life to the fullest, and in August, the beneficiary will be Ups ‘n’ Downs Northamptonshire, which provides support for children, adults and families with Down Syndrome across the county, working to increase awareness of Down Syndrome and promote positive attitudes and approaches within the local and wider community.
Centre manager Garrick Hurter said: “We are delighted to be bringing back our fantastic fundraiser Charity Tuesdays. It is important to our team to show our support for such incredible local causes that give so much to our local community and the people within it.
“Visitors to our coworking space can really make a difference this summer by choosing Vulcan Works on a Tuesday to meet clients, share ideas and work uninterrupted. All the donations will go directly to these amazing charities.”
Businesses or entrepreneurs looking for a more regular coworking arrangement could consider Vulcan Works Coworking Membership, at just £30 + VAT per month with two days of coworking a month included (£12 a day thereafter).
Members also receive access to business support and discounted meeting room hire. Ad-hoc drop in coworking starts at £17 + VAT per day and all coworking includes unlimited tea and coffee and free complimentary WiFi.
