The McCarthy-Dixon Foundation’s Fire Walk Raises More Than £6,000 for Community Support
On Sunday, 1 March 2026, members of The McCarthy-Dixon Foundation (TMDF), 29 brave participants and a large crowd of supporters gathered at Kingsthorpe Golf Club for a fundraising challenge that involved walking barefoot across hot coals in support of community initiatives.
The annual event, which combined entertainment with a spirit of determination, has raised more than £6,000 so far.
TMDF attributes the success of the fundraiser to the courage of the participants, the generosity of donors who contributed to the cause, and the dedication of the charity’s volunteers, whose support throughout the evening helped ensure proceedings ran smoothly.
The evening was marked by a lively atmosphere, with music, singing and a supportive crowd encouraging participants as they completed the fire walk. While a single walk across the coals represented a significant challenge, several participants returned to undertake the experience two or even three times.
Staff members from nine partner schools also took part in the event, demonstrating strong support for TMDF’s work. Representatives attended from Barby CE Primary School, Loatlands Primary School, Northampton International Academy, Caroline Chisholm School, Moulton Primary School, On Track Education, New Horizons Academy, The Good Shepherd Catholic Primary School and Pineham Barns Primary School.
The event was delivered with the professional support of UK Firewalk, whose experienced team provided guidance and safety oversight throughout the evening.
Funds raised from the event will support TMDF’s work across Northamptonshire. The charity provides practical assistance to families experiencing crisis, including food and essential items, runs social clubs aimed at reducing isolation, and works closely with partner schools to help ensure that children in need receive appropriate support.
