See Limited kicks-off third year of award success with finalist spot
A Corby-based company operating in the built environment industry has been announced as a finalist for a Sustainability award at this year’s SME Northamptonshire Business Awards.
See Limited, a group holding company for businesses involved in the supply, distribution and fabrication of wood veneer and decorative laminate panels, has been recognised for its efforts in reducing the impact of its products and services on the environment.
The finalist spot kicks-off a third consecutive year of award success following a plethora of award wins at national and regional level alongside a number of award finalist spots, cementing See’s presence in the built environment sector.
The latest recognition demonstrates the company’s tireless work in integrating sustainability into its business practices, including:
- Introducing automation that axes emissions, including a new HOMAG system at its Halifax site. Here, automated storage and cutting for up to 5,000 panels has slashed forklift movements and eliminated ~280 LPG bottles per year.
- Investments including solar PV, electric vehicles, energy-efficient machinery, and eco-gate extraction optimising energy draw. Plans are also in place to assess waste-to-energy from wood offcuts to build resilience and lower emissions.
- Expansion of its BioCarbon brand into commercial interiors with the launch of BioCarbon Spaces – a design-led, sustainable office storage brand, offering modular storage and low-carbon solutions for workspaces.
- Adopting precision cutting and automated handling to reduce material losses; partnering with timber recyclers to divert waste to new products, supporting circularity and lowering disposal costs.
- Developing a carbon calculator for its products, which quantifies emissions and empowers customers to make more informed, lower-impact decisions
- Publication of its annual carbon footprint reporting which is helping drive further reductions within the business.
Commenting on the finalist spot, managing director at See Limited, Daniel McNerney said: “Sustainability has always been at the heart of what we do here at See Limited. But to be recognised yet again for our efforts in the built environment sector feels amazing.
“It’s a fantastic achievement and testament to the hard work and dedication of the whole team who help ensure sustainability is not treated as an add-on but is part of how we grow.
“Our focus going forward will be on building momentum and deepening the impact of our sustainability journey. Key will be extending Scope 3 emissions reporting to cover more purchased materials, supported by better data collection and closer collaboration with suppliers to measure our footprint more accurately, target reductions with greater confidence, and ensure carbon considerations continue to be embedded into commercial decision-making.”
The SME Northamptonshire Business Awards aims to raise the profile of industrious, hardworking and enterprising SMEs locally. All winners from 24 categories will be officially announced at a black tie event on Thursday 23rd April at the Cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens, Northampton.
