Record downloads of financial education app takes centre stage for Global Money Week

As Global Money Week (16–22 March) shines a spotlight on financial education around the world, Commsave Credit Union is marking the occasion with a milestone of its own – record downloads of its free interactive learning app, Commsave Educates.

The app, designed to help people of all ages build financial knowledge and confidence, has now attracted nearly 800 users who have collectively completed more than 6,600 lessons – with an impressive lesson rating of 98.13%. The top-rated lesson, ‘What are financial goals?’, has been completed by 357 people.

The figures reflect a growing appetite for financial education – something Commsave has championed since launching the app as part of its wider Commsave Educates programme. The initiative supports Commsave’s mission to help members save safely, borrow responsibly and develop the financial skills to manage money wisely.

Matt Goulding, Chief Executive of Commsave Credit Union, said: “Global Money Week is a powerful reminder of why financial education matters – not just for young people starting out, but for everyone navigating the pressures of everyday life. The response to Commsave Educates has been brilliant, and these figures show just how many people are hungry for this kind of practical, accessible support.

“Learning how to manage money confidently from a young age sets people up for life, and that’s exactly why financial education sits at the heart of everything we do at Commsave. Whether it’s through the app, our school partnerships or our member workshops, we want to make sure that support is there for anyone who needs it.”

Global Money Week is an annual awareness-raising campaign coordinated by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD. Its aim is to ensure that young people, from an early age, are financially aware and gradually acquire the knowledge, skills and behaviours necessary to make sound financial decisions and achieve long-term financial wellbeing.

Commsave Educates is free to download and packed with interactive content designed to appeal to both young learners and adults. Whether you’re exploring the basics of budgeting, setting financial goals or understanding how borrowing works, the app makes learning about money engaging and rewarding.

The app supports Commsave’s broader financial education offering, which includes Money Matters – a free resource for schools developed in partnership with Northampton Town FC Community Trust – as well as workshops, webinars and one-to-one support for members.

Commsave currently supports over 42,000 members across the UK, offering safe savings, affordable and responsible credit, and access to financial education. Since 2022, the organisation has awarded more than £150,000 to charities, community groups and good causes through its Community Fund.
