Phenomenal year for creative workspace

It has been a memorable year for office hub Vulcan Works, which has launched new business initiatives, opened a podcast studio and provided endless creative opportunities for the local business community during 2025.

The Northampton workspace has supported hundreds of businesses with office space, business growth advice and innovative workshops since it launched.

The past 12 months have seen a smart glasses manufacturer, a quilter and an architectural studio join the Vulcan Works creative community, which also includes web developers, graphic designers, artists and a cyber security service provider, to name a few.

In the summer, Gather & Create @ Vulcan Works was born – a bimonthly series of hands-on events for core creative clients to try new things and meet likeminded individuals. In the six months that followed, guests took part in guided creative sessions including leather bound journal making, floristry and painting.

The second cohort of the popular Vulcan Creatives business incubation programme graduated in June, with the third cohort of 11 businesses following in their footsteps in October. A spin-off of the initiative, The John Franklin programme, also supporting ambitious entrepreneurs, saw a further 21 companies access specialist business guidance.

November saw the opening of the brand new, state-of-the-art Vulcan Works podcast studio, which offers two distinct setups to suit different styles – a polished desk arrangement with four chairs for a professional feel, and a relaxed lounge area featuring two comfortable sofas.

Vulcan Works was also named as a finalist in the Northamptonshire Business Excellence Awards in the Venue of the Year category.

The final months of the year saw the workspace again support the N-Live Radio present drive, inviting coworkers to use the hotdesk area in exchange for a gift donation to the charity initiative.

The centre’s regular weekly fundraiser Charity Tuesdays supported numerous local charities throughout the year including Baby Basics, The Lowdown and Breast Friends.

Centre manager Garrick Hurter said: “This year has been one of creativity, learning, and collective effort. The Vulcan Works community has grown with new companies moving in and more businesses sharing in our projects and collaborations.

“We have given back to the local community both in monetary donations to local causes but also through our invaluable business support sessions. We are excited to welcome 2026 with more Gather and Create sessions, including candle making and a punch needle workshop, plus podcasting and free hotdesking Fridays.

“We will host another open day in the spring for those who haven’t yet visited us to see just how unique and special Vulcan Works is.”
