We are writing to invite your organisation to support the North Northamptonshire BIG50 initiative.  This programme of change and development has been established, with North Northamptonshire Council’s convening power, to re-imagine what the place will be like in 2050.

While there is a wide programme of activity that has been developed by the board, there are two specific initiatives running in the autumn that we are encouraging people to take sponsorship opportunities for.

Firstly, plans are under way to establish a book festival.  The festival will bring together students, schools, families, businesses and the wider community to celebrate the power of reading, creativity and lifelong learning.  The first festival will run from the 19^th of October 2026 and lead up to Northamptonshire Day.

We are developing an ambitious programme featuring renowned authors, poets, journalists, illustrators, historians and thought leaders who will inspire audiences through:

• Author readings and book signings
• Talks and panel discussions
• Writing and storytelling workshops
• School and community outreach activities
• Careers sessions focused on publishing, journalism and the creative industries
• Literary events designed to engage learners of all ages

Our aim is to create one of the most significant cultural events in North Northamptonshire during the BIG50 celebrations, providing opportunities for thousands of people to engage with literature, learning and creativity.

To achieve this, we are seeking sponsorship partners who share our commitment to education, community engagement and social impact. Your support will help bring authors and speakers to the festival, create opportunities for discovery, imagination and learning and together, we can ensure the festival remains accessible, inspiring and impactful for all. In addition to this, it will also be supporting Beyond the Classroom: Community Reading and Literacy Connections, an initiative led by BAK UP CIC that strengthens literacy, reading engagement and community connections beyond the school gates. Time Capsules and Tree Planting

Thanks to a generous donation of trees from Kier Construction, schools across North Northamptonshire will have the opportunity to plant a tree this autumn and watch it grow through to 2050 and beyond. Supporting resources will help spark discussions about shaping positive and optimistic futures for the area.

While the plans for this are taking positive shape there has been a request for the opportunity of time capsules to be provided with the trees to schools that can be dug up in 2050, to give people a sense of how the area has changed over all that time.

Each time capsule costs £55 and we are looking for businesses to sponsor them in batches of 10 or 20.
