At Proaction, we’re proud to announce that our Founder, Director and Chief Instructor, Master Tom Nicholson, has been appointed as the new Head Coach of the ITF England National Taekwon-Do Team.

For those outside the martial arts world, this is one of the highest coaching appointments in English ITF Taekwon-Do.

The Head Coach is responsible for leading the England National Team, developing the national coaching programme, supporting athletes competing on the international stage, and setting the long-term direction for performance and development across the organisation. It’s a role that requires technical expertise, leadership, strategic thinking and the ability to bring people together behind a shared vision.

For Master Tom, however, this appointment represents something much bigger than sport.

Speaking about the appointment, he said:

“As a business owner, I have always been, and will always be, a coach first and foremost. To be given the opportunity to lead our National Team, and build the team of national coaches, is one of the biggest honours I could wish to receive.”

Leadership Beyond the Training Hall

Although this is a national sporting role, many of the skills required are exactly the same as those needed to lead a successful business.

Building high-performing teams. Developing people. Creating effective systems. Communicating a clear vision. Establishing trust. Delivering consistent results.

Master Tom’s vision for the England National Team reflects the same philosophy that has guided Proaction since it was founded.
