NNBN Director Simon Cox has joined the Government’s Help To Grow programme as a volunteer business mentor.

The programme, launched by former Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak in August 2021, will see Simon matched with a participant on the programme as a volunteer mentor for ten hours across 12 weeks.

Simon signed up for his voluntary position via the Enterprise Nation website who work closely with Newable and the Association of Business Mentors, and having participated in a training programme through the ABM, he’s ready to help support a business owner through a growth action plan.

Simon said “I’m looking forward to being matched with my mentee across the next 12 weeks to help support them with ideas and my experience.”

“I’ve been supporting other businesses from our networks as well as our NNBN members as part of their membership and, coupling that experience with my service to the Young Enterprise Company Programme and experience from my career, I’m looking to adding my experience and knowledge to my mentees.”

“My career saw me working in sports and leisure with experience in the football, rugby, licensed retail and hospitality sectors and couple that with 13 years of small business challenges and, more latterly, business leadership with business networks and key roles within our local business community, I can’t wait to get going.”

In the past, Simon has worked with Enterprise Nation at the Amazon Academy, met with the Prime Minister’s Business Advisory team and been the voice of local businesses through his support for small business. He has been recognised as a Volunteer Champion with the Federation of Small Businesses at a National level for 2021 and 2022 and is looking forward to playing a further role in the North Northamptonshire business community in the new future.
