Charities in Northamptonshire are being urged to step into the spotlight as the Northamptonshire Business Awards recognise their contribution to the local community.

The Northamptonshire Business Awards, organised by Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Wilson Browne Solicitors, celebrates organisations that have demonstrated excellence in business.

Now the Chamber are asking local firms for nominations for charities based in the county who deserve the much-coveted title of Charity of the Year 2021.

Anyone can nominate a deserving cause from now until Friday 8th October. Charities can nominate themselves or they can be put forward by other local businesses.

All entries will then be judged, and three finalists will be announced.

The winner will be chosen live through a vote of the people in the room at the gala awards evening at the Park Inn, Northampton on Thursday 11th November.

Northamptonshire Chamber Director of Business Development Sunny Singh said: “We have so many worthy charities in Northamptonshire, and this is their chance to shine. Our Northamptonshire Business Awards is the perfect opportunity for businesses to support these deserving causes by nominating their favourite charity to win.”

Wilson Browne Solicitors Chairman & Partner Kevin Rogers, said: “It would be hard, impossible even, to talk about this award without referencing the pandemic which brought into sharp focus the selfless hard work and dedication of charities, and the people behind them, who put the needs of others at the forefront of their thoughts and actions.

“Wilson Browne Solicitors has a proud tradition of supporting local charities, good causes, and other worthy initiatives and are proud of our involvement in the local community. As well as supporting charitable work, we have Treasurers, Committee Members, Governors and other roles at many local sports clubs and educational establishments such as pre-schools, primary and secondary schools, churches, parish councils and other organisations.

“The local charities we support or have previously supported are many: every one of them is making a valuable contribution to the community…our community, your community, and for that we applaud them. Please join with us in recognising and celebrating their work, supported by our colleagues at the Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce.”

The other award categories are High Growth Business of the Year, Employer of the Year, Workplace Wellbeing, Customer Commitment, International Trade Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Family Business of the Year, Best New Business of the Year and Young Business Person of the Year.
