Last year’s funded group leads the way as Northampton Legal Walk 2026 raises £4,795
One of last year’s funded organisations has come full circle to lead this year’s Northampton Legal Walk fundraising efforts, as the 2026 event raised £4,795 to support free legal advice services across the county.
Northamptonshire Rights and Equality Council, a recipient of last year’s Legal Walk funding, not only took part in this year’s event but saw its Chief Executive, Anjona Roy, named as the walk’s top fundraiser.
Organised by Northamptonshire Community Foundation in partnership with Northamptonshire Law Society, HCR Law, and the University of Northampton, the annual event took place earlier this month and brought together members of the legal community and local supporters to champion access to justice.
Funds raised from this year’s walk will directly support local organisations providing vital advice and guidance on critical issues such as housing, debt, domestic abuse and welfare rights.
The involvement of Northamptonshire Rights and Equality Council as both a previous beneficiary and this year’s top fundraising contributor highlights the lasting impact of the Legal Walk, with funded organisations continuing to give back and strengthen the network of support across the county.
Top fundraiser Anjona Roy, Chief Executive of Northamptonshire Rights and Equality Council, played a pivotal role in the event’s success through her exceptional fundraising efforts and commitment to supporting access to justice. In recognition of her achievement, Anjona has been awarded four hospitality tickets in the Tempeo Community Lounge at Northampton Town Football Club. This prize was generously sponsored by an anonymous donor.
Rachel McGrath, CEO of Northamptonshire Community Foundation, said: “We are delighted with the success of this year’s Legal Walk and incredibly grateful to everyone who took part and donated. Raising £4,795 will make a real difference to advice services supporting people across Northamptonshire.
“Seeing Northamptonshire Rights and Equality Council – one of last year’s funded organisations- return to take part and lead fundraising this year is a powerful reminder of the impact of the Legal Walk and the strength of our local community.”
Shakira Khan, Associate, Wilson Browne Solicitors added: “The Northampton Legal Walk is something the legal community really looks forward to every year. This year we took a scenic route through Delapré Abbey. It is always a nice chance to meet new people and catch up with familiar faces. Most importantly, it raises money for legal advice and representation for some of the most vulnerable people in our community, which is really important to me. I believe everyone should be able to access that kind of support no matter their financial situation.”
The Northampton Legal Walk continues to be a key event in the county’s legal calendar, bringing together professionals and organisations in a shared commitment to fairness, inclusion and access to justice.
