Judging the Milton Keynes and Bucks SME business awards
Member News
Following the completion of all the entries for the Milton Keynes and Bucks SME business awards recently, the judges were given just 5 days to judge the award entries between 26-30 June. The judges included Tony Byrne and Cholpon Djanuzakova of Wealth And Tax Management, who were judging the awards for the first time.
Not only was it a tight deadline, but Tony had been away at a conference on 26/27 June, which meant they were left with just three days to judge the awards. Tony was particularly concerned that they wouldn’t have enough time to study each entry properly to understand each one and to do them justice.
As it turned out, it wasn’t too onerous a task after all. There were only 18 entries for each of them to judge in two categories – Business Woman of the Year and Community Business of the Year. After a few hours of studying the entries, it became very clear to both Cholpon and Tony who they each favoured to win each award and they voted for them accordingly. The work was completed on 28 June with two days to spare. Relief all round. They each celebrated over a glass of wine.
When asked for his comments afterwards, Tony said, “The quality of entries was very high. There are many dedicated, hard-working businesses in Milton Keynes and Buckinghamshire and a wide variety of business types to serve different customers. We were honoured to have the opportunity to judge the entries in two categories this year and we wish all entrants great business success in the future because they deserve it.”
