One of our all time favourite quotes, something a patient in hospital reminded us of yesterday ❤️
Co-Founders Lorraine and Lee Lewis were walking down hospital street in Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust yesterday when they were stopped by a patient.
She wanted to tell them that she never had a chance to thank them face to face for a pack of goodies they delivered to her door during the first lockdown in April 2020. They had to leave it on her doorstep as she was shielding and was minimising contact with others.
She said at the time she was scared, isolated due to shielding and didn’t have the basic items such as toiletries, essentials (the time when you couldn’t get toilet rolls) and entertainment items to pass the time. She reached out to The Lewis Foundation because she didn’t know who else could help. It helped her to feel so much better and that someone cared about her at a time she felt forgotten.
We find it incredible that over 2 1/2 years later, that it still meant so much to her and that meant so much to us to hear that. It made us feel so proud.
When we share the work of our charity The Lewis Foundation daily, is it because we want people to see how their support makes a difference and that it does make a long lasting impact to the lives of others following their cancer diagnosis.
