Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity has been named a finalist in the Charity of the Year category at the prestigious Northamptonshire Business Awards.

Organised by Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce, the awards celebrate businesses and charities that make a significant contribution to Northamptonshire.

Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity has been shortlisted in recognition of its work raising vital funds and building community support to help provide specialist palliative care services for patients and families across West Northamptonshire. The recognition comes during a landmark year for the charity, as it marks five decades of helping local people living with life-limiting illnesses receive compassionate care, support and choice.

Since Cynthia Spencer Hospice first opened its doors in 1976, services have evolved considerably. Alongside inpatient care, local people can now receive support through Hospice@Home, outpatient and wellbeing services, lymphoedema care, bereavement support and specialist palliative care within the community.

Last year alone, the Specialist Palliative Care team had 15,923 contacts with people across West Northamptonshire, helping patients to live every moment while providing invaluable support to their families.

“Demand for specialist palliative care continues to grow, and services must continue to adapt so that more people can access the care and support they need, whether that is within the hospice, in the community or in their own homes.

“To be recognised alongside so many fantastic charities and organisations from across Northamptonshire is a real honour, and we look forward to celebrating with everyone at the awards ceremony.”

The winners of the Northamptonshire Business Awards will be announced at an awards ceremony on Friday 11 September 2026 at Sywell Aerodrome.

The charity’s anniversary celebrations will culminate in the one-off Cynthia Spencer Hospice 50th Anniversary Black Tie Gala on Thursday 15 October at Hangar One, Sywell Aerodrome.

The evening will include performances from Northampton singer-songwriter Billy Lockett and Northampton Sings Out choir.
