Hattrick concert will also support Cynthia Spencer
Singing sensation Billy Lockett has again urged fans to support a Northampton hospice by making a much-needed donation when buying tickets to his recently released hattrick hometown Christmas gig.
Earlier this year, the Northampton-raised vocalist announced two performances at the town’s popular Picturedrome in December.
Fans who bought tickets to the sold-out shows were also given the option to donate to Cynthia Spencer Hospice at the checkout.
The donation amount defaulted to £2 per transaction on the ticket platform, however purchasers were offered the chance to give more, or not at all, should they wish.
Now Billy has launched a third Christmas show in the run, on Tuesday, 16th December, and is again encouraging fans to back the hospice when choosing tickets by donating to the charity, who looked after both Billy’s father, famous artist John Luce Lockett and his aunty.
The Voice vocalist said: “The Picturedrome shows do well and as it’s a local show it made sense to use it to support the hospice, which is such an important charity in Northampton.
“Cynthia Spencer Hospice looked after both my aunty and dad before they passed away. It’s a really lovely vibe there, and the staff were friendly, extremely kind, fun, real people. Everyone was so empathetic, and made us very welcome.
“The support they gave us as a family during such a difficult time has, and always will have, a special place in my heart.”
Billy’s father John donated one of his incredible paintings to the hospice while he was a palliative patient. The artwork, which depicts a man walking up a mountain, still hangs in the hospice. Billy used to visit his aunty in the hospice almost every week and has fond memories of his time there.
He said: “I have got funny memories of zooming around the roundabout out the front on my aunty’s mobility scooter. She saw it as a holiday home as she really enjoyed the social side, she absolutely loved it there.”
Community and Events Fundraiser Lead at Cynthia Spencer Hospice Michelle Morris said: “Thank you to Billy for using his platform to shine a light on the vital work of our hospice. All donations make such a huge difference to the care we provide.
“We are so grateful to Billy for supporting us in this way. He is always warmly welcomed at his hometown gigs, and we hope that his fans will consider donating to us again as part of this fantastic third show.”
