Go Green for Cransley during Hospice Care Week
The week-long campaign (5th – 11th October) celebrates the vital role hospice care plays in the community while encouraging individuals, schools, businesses and community groups to get involved in fun and creative fundraising activities.
With support from the community, Cransley Hospice Trust are hoping to raise £18,000 to help fund 28 days of direct patient care, including specialist physiotherapy and occupational therapy sessions, alongside comforting children’s memory boxes complete with teddies for families.
Supporters can wear something green and make a donation, organise a green-themed bake sale or coffee morning, host a fundraising event with friends, family or colleagues, or even go environmentally green by donating quality unwanted items to one of Cransley Hospice Trust’s charity shops.
New for 2026, the campaign will end with the Go Green Walk on Sunday 11th October. Starting at 11am, participants will enjoy a scenic walk from Stanwick Lakes to Rushden Lakes, with families, friends, children and even four-legged companions all welcome. The event is free to join, with participants simply encouraged to donate whatever they can to support local hospice care. The first 100 people to register will also receive a free children’s goodie bag!

The campaign is made possible thanks to the generous sponsorship of Yusen Logistics, meaning that even more of the money raised will directly enhance the end of life experience of local people and their families living with a terminal diagnosis.
The importance of hospice care is reflected in the experiences of local families like Will and George Groenland, whose mum, Louise, received care and support from Cransley Hospice last summer. The brothers told the charity:
“There was continuity in the care Mum was getting. Everyone knew about Mum and what she needed, and Mum got to know them too. I think that really helped.”
They also shared how hospice care challenged their expectations:
“You hear the word hospice and you think the worst. But it wasn’t like that at all. It was a really bright place where the carers made everything just a little bit more special.”
Their story is a powerful reminder of the difference hospice care makes to local families at the most difficult of times.
