We are delighted to announce that this year we have chosen to sponsor the Milton Keynes Chorale concert which celebrates the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee at the Milton Keynes Theatre on Sunday 5th June at 7.30pm.
This exciting concert not only celebrates 70 years of the Queen’s reign with a concert of inspiring choral and orchestral music in the presence of Lady Howe, the Lord-Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, and the Mayor of Milton Keynes, but will also raise funds for Willen Hospice.
With over 120 singers from four choirs, accompanied by Milton Keynes’ new professional orchestra, Alina Orchestra, the concert will feature music performed at coronations from the 18th to the 20th century from the splendour of Handel’s coronation anthem Zadok the Priest, the emotion of Elgar’s Nimrod, to the rousing spirit of Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance No 1. The concert will include some of the magnificent music heard by the Queen at her coronation on 2nd June 1953, such as Parry’s great anthem I Was Glad, and William Walton’s Coronation Te Deum. The concert culminates in a new arrangement of the National Anthem.
At the end of the concert, there will be a collection for Willen Hospice, and any profit from the concert will also go to Willen Hospice. Willen Hospice Chief Executive, Peta Wilkinson, said: “We are delighted to have the generous support of Milton Keynes Chorale. We rely so heavily on donations made by local people to help us raise the money we need to support patients and their families in the community.”
Paula Stuart, Partner at Geoffrey Leaver Solicitors comments “As a long-established Milton Keynes law firm operating for over 50 years, we truly believe that being a successful business is about more than just delivering a high quality service to clients but to support both socially and economically the wider local community that we operate within, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to support a momentous event such as this in celebration of the Queen’s Jubilee”
