Commsave announces Animals in Need Northamptonshire as its Charity of the Year

Commsave Credit Union has announced Animals in Need Northamptonshire as its Charity of the Year, pledging its support for the organisation that rescues sick, injured, trapped and distressed wild and domestic animals across the county.

The charity was chosen following a staff vote, with Commsave colleagues nominating local causes close to their hearts. Animals in Need Northamptonshire, which relies entirely on donations and volunteers to carry out its vital rescue and rehoming work, emerged as a clear favourite.

Throughout the year ahead, Commsave staff will organise a range of fundraising activities – from bake sales and raffles to dress down days and more – to raise vital funds for the charity. Staff will also be offered volunteering opportunities at the charity HQ in Little Irchester.

Matt Goulding, CEO of Commsave Credit Union, said: “We are proud to be supporting Animals in Need Northamptonshire as our Charity of the Year for 2026. The passion our staff show in nominating and voting for local causes they care about reflects the values at the heart of Commsave – community, compassion and doing the right thing.

“Animals in Need does extraordinary work rescuing and rehoming vulnerable animals across Northamptonshire, and we look forward to doing everything we can to support them throughout the year ahead.”

Annie Marriott, Manager at Animals in Need Northamptonshire, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been chosen by Commsave as their Charity of the Year for 2026. For a small, volunteer-led organisation like ours, this kind of support will make a huge difference – not just for us, but for the animals we exist to protect.

“Every day, our dedicated volunteers respond to calls about animals in crisis – creatures that are sick, injured, frightened and alone. The funds raised through this partnership will help us reach more of them, give them the care they need and find them the safe, loving homes they deserve.

“We are so grateful to everyone at Commsave for choosing us. Knowing that a whole team of people voted for us – and will be working hard on our behalf throughout the year – means the world to us … and to the animals of Northamptonshire.”

The announcement follows a hugely successful 2025 charity partnership with Baby Basics Northampton, which saw Commsave staff raise over £600 through fundraising activities across the year. With an additional contribution from the Commsave Community Fund, the total raised for Baby Basics reached over £1,200 – helping the charity to provide essential resources to vulnerable new families across the county.
