Jenny Blount, 72, began working for Inter County Service Group Ltd in 1995 on a contract for a local business in Kettering and is still cleaning at the same site today.

Her long-standing presence means she is now one of the longest-serving people working at the site, despite not being directly employed by the client company itself.

Jenny was recently invited to visit the Inter County offices to mark her amazing milestone, during which she was presented with a bouquet of flowers and voucher for an afternoon tea by Inter County founder, Keith Nicholson.

Keith said: “Jenny’s dedication over the years has been extraordinary. Working evening shifts, she has only ever missed one night in three decades due to a family emergency.

“I first won the Kettering contract in 1982, four years after starting my office cleaning business. As the contract grew, we needed a team of six cleaners to support it.

“Jenny joined us in 1995 and has worked on that same contract ever since, based at the client’s premises. She is a real asset to both Inter County and the client business.”

Jenny’s role has not only been about hard work, but also about the relationships she has built along the way.

She said: “What I enjoy most is meeting people and having the independence to just turn up and do my job properly and thoroughly. It’s been a big part of my life, and I’ll carry on as long as I can.”

Over the course of her tenure at Inter County, Jenny was joined on the same contract by her husband, Tony Blount. The couple worked side-by-side for more than 25 years until Tony retired in 2020.

Over the years, the pair showed remarkable commitment to their roles, cycling to work together and walking through snow to ensure they never missed a shift.
