AZSCEARS Appointed as Planning Support on Landmark Citibank Tower Project in Canary Wharf

We are proud to announce that AZSCEARS has been appointed to deliver planning and programme control consultancy services on the prestigious Citibank Tower refurbishment project in Canary Wharf, London.

Commissioned by ESG Electrical — a key subcontractor to principal contractor Overbury plc — our role supports the delivery of a comprehensive electrical installation package within one of the UK’s most high-profile commercial redevelopments.

Project Overview

Situated in the heart of London’s financial district, the Citibank Tower refurbishment is a landmark undertaking, involving a full internal fit-out and systems upgrade spanning multiple floors. The scheme is being managed by Overbury and is designed to transform the tower into a modern, sustainable workplace aligned with top-tier ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles.

As the appointed electrical subcontractor, ESG is delivering a technically complex and logistically demanding scope of works. This includes containment, lighting, power, small power, and a range of specialist electrical systems. To support the seamless integration of these works into the overall programme, ESG has engaged AZSCEARS for end-to-end planning, sequencing, and programme control consultancy.

Our Role and Scope

Our remit on this project is robust and dynamic. We are providing specialist planning services that ensure ESG’s works are delivered in line with Overbury’s programme while actively managing risk and maintaining progress certainty. Key services include:

  • Development and ongoing management of ESG’s detailed installation programme
  • Sequencing and coordination aligned with Overbury’s master programme
  • Interface planning across subcontractor trades through 2–4 week lookaheads
  • Real-time progress monitoring and reporting to stakeholders
  • Critical path analysis and programme recovery strategy formulation
  • Earned Value and Planned vs Actual reporting metrics
  • Strategic advice around commissioning phasing and MEPH integration

Project Challenges

This is a live, fast-paced project environment where the complexity lies not only in the technical delivery, but also in the phasing, sequencing, and coordination across operational floors. Among the key planning challenges we’re addressing:

  • Phased access and sectional handovers across multiple floors in a live environment
  • Long-lead procurement risks for specialist electrical components
  • Sequencing high-level containment and switchgear installations to align with ceiling closures
  • Aligning ESG’s commissioning activities with Overbury’s critical handover milestones

AZSCEARS Value

Our involvement brings structure and visibility to an intricate programme, enabling ESG to maintain focus, drive, and accountability across their scope. By supporting proactive risk mitigation and driving clarity in sequencing and resource planning, we ensure that ESG’s delivery remains resilient, responsive, and aligned with client expectations.

This project is a testament to our capability in high-profile, technically demanding environments, and we are proud to be supporting ESG and Overbury on such a pivotal scheme in the London commercial market.
