HORIBA Group (hereafter HORIBA) is proud to announce that Atsushi Horiba, Chairman & Group CEO, has been
awarded the Honorary Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) by His Majesty King Charles III.
This prestigious honour recognises Mr. Horiba for his services to the UK automotive sector.

The Order of the British Empire is a distinguished award granted to individuals who have achieved excellence in various
fields such as science and the arts, or who have made significant contributions to public service and society.

Business Development in the United Kingdom

HORIBA’s presence in the UK began in 1977 with the establishment of its site in Northampton. Since then, the company
has contributed to the development of cleaner, more efficient vehicles through its emission and air quality
measurement systems. HORIBA also supports scientific and healthcare research with water quality monitoring and
advanced analytical technologies.

Today, HORIBA employs over 850 people across the UK, with operations spanning research, development and
manufacturing in Northampton, software development in Worcester, spectroscopic solutions in Glasgow, and vehicle
engineering and testing in Nuneaton. These activities include the development of spectroscopic analysis tools, test
automation systems for vehicle development, and support for the semiconductor industry across Europe. HORIBA’s
continued investment in the UK reflects its commitment to advancing technologies that improve quality of life and
promote a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future.

In 2015, HORIBA acquired MIRA Ltd. (now HORIBA MIRA Limited), a leading provider of vehicle engineering and testing
services. Through ongoing investment, HORIBA has delivered integrated solutions supporting the advancement of
autonomous driving, reduction of environmental impact, and saving lives through the enhancement of vehicle safety.

In 2018, HORIBA MIRA’s “MIRA Technology Park” (now MIRA Tech Park) received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in
International Trade, and in 2024, the company was honored with the King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable
Development, recognizing its commitment to growth in international markets and sustainable development.
Furthermore, HORIBA MIRA actively participates in industry-academia-government projects, led by the UK government,
to drive the development of next-generation vehicles and industrial progress on a global scale. In June, HORIBA MIRA
was proud to host Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, for the launch of the UK’s new Industrial Strategy. The
announcement provided a national spotlight on the people, capabilities, and ground-breaking work being driven by
HORIBA in the UK. In addition, HORIBA continues to contribute to education and talent development in the UK through
the establishment of the MIRA Technology Institute, where the training and nurturing of young engineers is actively
promoted.

The UK remains a vital location for HORIBA in promoting technological innovation and talent development. The
company is committed to contributing to the prosperity of both nations through its advanced analytical and
measurement solutions.
