Attend our Care Experienced Pledge launch event
Hosted by the Lord Lieutenant of Northamptonshire, Northamptonshire Children’s Trust (NCT) are looking for local businesses, services and community partners to attend our Care Experienced Pledge event on the 28th of November at the Kings Park Conference Centre, Moulton Park. The event looks to highlight on the challenges that young people leaving care face and how the support of local organisations and businesses can dramatically improve the outcomes they have while giving like minded organisations the chance to mingle.
This is sure to be an inspiring event where you can hear about how to make a real difference and transform futures with the Care Experienced Pledge. Any business or organisation can attend no matter how big or small, these could include:
- Employers or business owners
- Community leaders or service providers
- Education or training organisations
- Charities or voluntary groups
- Anyone passionate about supporting young people
Colin Foster, Chief Executive for Northamptonshire Children’s Trust said;
“Providing care experienced young adults with the opportunities that can be offered by organisations, businesses and educational providers in their local area is so important. Seeing that there are opportunities for them on their doorstep can be a real motivating factor and drive aspiration and attainment. Ensuring that care leavers have support and guidance in place so that they can achieve their aspirations is critical in bridging that gap between the end of care and independence of our young people.”
How could businesses and organisations make a difference?
A business or organisation could:
- Offer work experience, apprenticeships or employment opportunities
- Provide discounts or donations (furniture, white goods, carpets, paint, kitchenware, etc.)
- Sponsor a “starter pack” for a young person moving into their first home
- Share your skills or mentorship
- Offer wellbeing or leisure opportunities
Together, we can create a community where care experienced young people feel supported, valued and at home. To attend the event simply complete this MS Form! Care Experienced Pledge Launch Event – RSVP – Fill in form
As part of the wider National Care Leavers Month celebrations organised by the Become charity, who are the national charity for children in care and care leavers, this event is sure to be a real highlight of the year. At NCT are committed to supporting our care leavers beyond 18 and into adulthood which is why events like this are so important. With the support of local businesses and organisations we can ensure that young people have access to meaningful opportunities and support to make the successful transition into adulthood and independence.
