Age UK Northamptonshire invites older people to celebrate International Day of Older Persons at their Ageing Well One Stop Shop
Older people, their families and carers are invited to a free community event to mark International Day of Older Persons and discover the support, activities and opportunities available on their doorstep.
On Thursday 1st October, Age UK Northamptonshire will host its Ageing Well One Stop Shop – What’s on Your Doorstep? from 2pm to 6pm at the William and Patricia Venton Centre, York Road, Northampton, NN1 5QJ.
The event will celebrate the valuable contribution older people make to communities across Northamptonshire while helping local residents find out more about services and activities that support healthy, independent and fulfilling later life.
Bringing together a wide range of local organisations, charities, community groups and support services, the event will showcase what is available to help people age well, stay connected, remain active and live independently in their own homes and communities for longer.
More than just an information event, visitors will be able to talk directly with local organisations, take part in activities, enjoy demonstrations and explore practical ways to improve their wellbeing and quality of life.
The afternoon will also provide an important opportunity for older people, their families and carers to have their say. Attendees will be invited to share what they love about their local communities, what challenges they face and what they feel is missing from their doorstep. Their views will help local organisations work together to make Northamptonshire an even better place to grow older.
