The Oasis Project Update February 2025

Can you believe it’s already mid-February? Time seems to fly by, and with so much happening, it’s hard to know where to start. From exciting new construction projects to a variety of activities and accomplishments, there’s been no shortage of progress. In this newsletter, we’re thrilled to share just a few of our recent achievements and updates with you. As always, your continued support makes everything we do possible, and we can’t wait to bring you more news as we move through the year!

Warm regards,

The Oasis Project

New Leader

Welcome our New Head Teacher!

We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Adédàpò Adéoyè, known as Mr. Ade, as the new Headteacher of Starlight Community School. With a bachelor’s degree in Meteorology and years of teaching experience across various educational levels, including both the Gambia and Cambridge curricula, Mr. Ade is passionate about making a difference in children’s education, particularly in underserved communities. He is also dedicated to integrating technology, AI, and the Internet of Things into our school’s learning approach. His vision is clear: to continue shining a light of growth and opportunity for every student at Starlight. We’re excited to see his leadership inspire positive change in our school!

New Toilet Block Project – Update

We’re excited to provide an update on our new toilet block project! What began as a vision just a few months ago has rapidly come to life. The structure now has a roof, installed taps, and the majority of the tiling is complete. The cubicles and doors have also been installed, bringing us one step closer to completion. We’re on track to finish the project next month. A big thank you to everyone who donated, as well as to the dedicated Bakau team for their hard work in making this happen!

Support Starlight School’s New Chapter

In our previous letter, we shared the exciting news about securing new premises and relocating Starlight School to a more suitable site. However, we still need to pay off the remaining balance to secure full ownership of the land. To achieve this, we’ve started organising fundraising events and are working closely with teachers, the community, and the PTA to gather donations and support.

We’re calling on you to make a difference—what can you do to help? Could you donate, organize a fundraising event, or help spread the word far and wide? Every act of kindness, no matter how small, brings us closer to securing a brighter future for the children of Starlight School in Gambia. Your support isn’t just a gift to the Oasis Project—it’s a lifeline to every child dreaming of a better tomorrow. Thank you for being part of this mission!
