Support Northamptonshire Community Foundation to help those hit hardest by icy temperatures
It’s estimated that 38,000 Northamptonshire residents are at risk of fuel poverty this winter, as they try not to turn their heating on at all or cut back on food to save money.
Through their Warm this Winter appeal, Northamptonshire Community Foundation is working to tackle fuel poverty and to keep older and vulnerable local residents fed, warm and well.
The difference donors have made since 2010.
The Warm this Winter appeal began in the winter of 2010/11 and many community foundations across the UK continue to provide a safety net each Winter to keep our older neighbours warm and well.
Community Foundation’s Winter appeals have spread across the country, raising millions of pounds nationally and over £267,000 in Northamptonshire alone. Thousands of older people have been supported since the first appeal in our county thanks to supporter’s generosity and care.
Every penny donated goes straight to the Warm this Winter Fund, through which we quickly distribute vital grant awards to charities and community organisations across the county, who support those who are struggling in these freezing temperatures.
With your support across the years we are able to award grants to charities who support hundreds of older residents at risk of fuel poverty each year. Moulton Community CIO ran a Winter Warm Hub, which provided refreshments and lunches to local residents 7 days a week; Friends of East Hunsbury Primary School set up a pop-up café that offered older people space to socialise and get involved with activities like chair yoga, and Stanwick Bowls Club replaced their old electric heaters so that older residents could stay warm and active throughout the Winter months.
Previous beneficiary The McCarthy-Dixon Foundation told us: “Many of our clients were trapped in a distressing cycle of choosing between adequately heating their homes and meeting other essential needs. With the grant’s assistance, we were able to provide them with much-needed relief.”
Any donation, big or small, will have a meaningful impact on those facing financial hardship. If you are able, please consider supporting our Warm this Winter appeal and helping us to ensure our vulnerable older neighbours are kept fed, warm and well as the temperature drops.
