Charity places offer route into sold-out Silverstone running festival
Runners who missed out on a place at this year’s sold-out Run Fest Silverstone still have the chance to reach the starting line by supporting Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity.
The Northampton-based organisation has a limited number of charity places available for the event on Sunday 22 November, offering runners the opportunity to take on the famous Silverstone Circuit while raising money for local hospice care.
With general entries now sold out, charity places are the only way for new entrants to take part. Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity is a Bronze Charity Partner for the event and, as such, can offer a small number of spaces to people keen to turn a running challenge into support for patients and families in their community.
This is the first year Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity has joined Run Fest Silverstone as a partner. Its places are available across the 5K, 10K and half marathon distances, giving participants the chance to run on the same track that has seen some of Formula One’s biggest names compete.
Katie Fouracre, Community and Events Fundraising Lead at Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity, said: “If you thought you had missed your chance to run at Silverstone this year, we could still help you get to the starting line. Our charity places offer a fantastic opportunity to experience this iconic circuit while doing something that matters for local families.
“As Cynthia Spencer Hospice marks its 50th anniversary this year, runners can help ensure its care continues to be there for local families when they need it most.”
For five decades, Cynthia Spencer Hospice has helped people across Northamptonshire live every moment – bringing comfort, dignity and reassurance to patients and those who love them. Raising £200 could help fund eight hours of specialist palliative care at home.
“Every pound raised by a Run Fest runner will help more families facing the uncertainty of a life-limiting illness,” adds Katie.
“We would love to hear from runners who are enthusiastic about fundraising for Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity, whether they have a personal connection to the hospice or simply want to support care in their community.”
Registration fees for the charity places are £15 for the 5K, £20 for the 10K and £25 for the half marathon. Participants taking a charity place must pledge to raise at least £200.
Prospective runners are encouraged submit an application, explaining why they would like to represent the charity and how they plan to raise funds. Places are limited and will be awarded to the strongest applications.
People who have already secured their own entry are also invited to dedicate their run to Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity and can contact the fundraising team to get involved.
Money raised will help fund specialist palliative care for people across Northamptonshire, supporting patients and their families both at the hospice and in their own homes.
