Help your local hospice
Northamptonshire palliative care provider Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity is highlighting the incredible difference that monthly donations can make to the charity to mark Hospice Care Week (5th-11th October).
For one week every October, Hospice Care Week shines a spotlight on the brilliant and beloved hospices across the UK, as well as their amazing staff by sharing stories, highlighting services and reaching out to the community and to policymakers.
This year’s theme, “Don’t Leave Hospice Care to Chance” focuses on the concept that we must invest in palliative care services now in order to safeguard them for the community in future.
By giving £30 a month, over the course of a year you could help fund one full day of specialist care for a patient in the local Cynthia Spencer Hospice inpatient unit and a monthly donation of £15 could help fund an hour of specialist care for one patient.
As little as £5 a month could go towards providing emotional and practical support to families coping with a terminal diagnosis and £50 could help to provide two hours of specialist palliative care at home, helping patients receive expert support in the comfort of familiar surroundings.
Last year, the incredible breadth of Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity services across the county meant the palliative care team made almost 16,000 contacts with patients and families.
Asma Maya Joseph Hussain, CEO at Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity, said: “Hospice care shouldn’t depend on luck and this year’s Hospice Care Week theme of ‘Don’t Leave Hospice Care to Chance’ really resonates with us.
“We have served the Northamptonshire community proudly for the past five decades and as we celebrate our 50th anniversary this year, it is more important than ever for us to do everything we can to safeguard our services.
“Community support is more important than ever to hospices, who face rising costs, growing demand for services and limited fundraising potential. Yet so many local people benefit from our specialist, compassionate care and we are immensely proud of that fact.
“Your regular support provides certainty when families need it most. Just a few pounds every month can make a significant difference. If you’re able to donate, please do consider doing so. If you continue to support us, we can be here to support you.”
