Northamptonshire-based managed IT and cybersecurity provider ITFixio has welcomed Shems to the team as its new Sales Executive Apprentice, marking the next step in the company’s growing partnership with The Bedford College Group.

The appointment follows ITFixio becoming an Employer Partner of The Bedford College Group earlier this year, with the two organisations working together to create meaningful opportunities for young people entering the workplace.

For ITFixio, welcoming its new apprentice is about more than growing the team. It represents an opportunity to invest in the next generation, share real-world business experience and give someone at the beginning of their career the chance to learn and develop.

From employer partnership to a new team member

ITFixio’s relationship with The Bedford College Group began through local business networking and quickly developed into conversations about apprenticeships, skills and how businesses can play a more active role in supporting young people as they move from education into employment.

Those conversations led to ITFixio becoming an Employer Partner and, shortly afterwards, beginning the search for a Sales Executive Apprentice.

Following an interview process supported by The Bedford College Group, Shem was selected to join the growing ITFixio team.

For ITFixio, the recruitment process was not simply about finding someone with previous experience. The company was looking for the right attitude, enthusiasm, willingness to learn and potential to grow with the business.

“When someone is at the beginning of their career, they haven’t necessarily had the opportunity to build an extensive CV. What matters is their attitude, their willingness to learn and what they could become with the right support.
“Shem impressed us during the interview process and we are delighted to have him joining us.”

Learning through real business experience

Shem joins ITFixio at a particularly busy time for the Northamptonshire technology company.

ITFixio has recently moved into its new office at Corby Innovation Hub and continues to grow its presence within the Northamptonshire business community.

As part of his apprenticeship, Shem will gain practical experience across sales, business development, customer relationships and networking, while learning about the day-to-day operation of a growing technology business.

And his introduction to the local business community will begin almost immediately.

During his first week with ITFixio, Shem will join the team at the Northamptonshire Business Exhibition, organised by the Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce.

Nik said:

“We want the apprenticeship to involve genuine experience from the beginning.
That means meeting businesses, attending events, learning how to communicate with customers and understanding how professional relationships are built.
There will be lots to learn along the way, but that’s exactly what an apprenticeship should be about. Our role is to give Shem the support, experience and confidence to develop.”

Supporting the next generation

The appointment represents the latest stage in ITFixio’s relationship with The Bedford College Group and its wider commitment to supporting education, skills and career development.

As an Employer Partner, ITFixio plans to continue engaging with students through careers activities, events and opportunities to gain greater insight into the world of work.

The company also hopes that, as ITFixio continues to grow, Shem will be the first of further apprenticeship opportunities created within the business.
