A much-loved Northamptonshire charity, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, has been named Charity of the Year at the Northamptonshire Business Awards 2026.

Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity took the title on Friday night (11^th September) in a prestigious gala ceremony at Sywell Aerodrome, alongside fierce competition.

Organised by Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce, the awards celebrate businesses and charities that make a significant contribution to Northamptonshire.

Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity has been raising vital funds and building community support to help provide specialist palliative care services for local patients and families across Northamptonshire for the past five decades.

Over the years, the charity has evolved significantly, offering compassionate care not only at the inpatient hospice unit but through Hospice@Home, outpatient and wellbeing services, lymphoedema care, bereavement support and specialist palliative care within the community giving people with life-limiting conditions choice of how they spend their final days.

Maya Joseph-Hussain, Chief Executive Officer at Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity,  collected the award on the night flanked by her tremendous team.

Maya said: “We are over the moon to have been awarded the Charity of the Year title, especially with us celebrating our 50^th anniversary this year. Collecting the award alongside my incredible team was very special as they all play their part in helping to provide outstanding, vital, palliative care in our beloved community.

“As we celebrate 50 years of care at Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity, I am grateful to all the heroes in the past and present who have worked with us, volunteered for us, fundraised and donated to ensure we are there to care when families need us the most. Our holistic services are only possible due to the generosity of so many. Thank you to everyone who has supported us and for making a difference, I hope you will continue to do so for many years to come.
