Beloved hospice charity continues its support of national campaign

Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity has once again pledged its support to a national campaign highlighting the importance of palliative care.

Last year, the beloved Northamptonshire charity united with hospices nationwide to back a new Hospice UK initiative to encourage people across the country to consider leaving a gift in their will to support and secure the future of their local hospices.

The thought-provoking campaign, This Is Hospice Care, kicked off with a powerful TV advert based on real life hospice stories to raise awareness about the vital role hospices play in communities and shift public perceptions of hospice care.

Since then, there have been three further waves of the campaign, the latest of which runs this week, 14th-18th September, encouraging more people to consider leaving a gift in their will to support their local hospice.

With the number of annual deaths in the UK expected to rise by 130,000 by 2040, here in Northamptonshire, Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity is also trying to highlight the growing need for hospice care.

The palliative care provider hopes the campaign will inspire more people to consider leaving a legacy, ensuring that their essential services can continue to provide their compassionate and specialist care for future generations and sustain the surge in demand.

The incredible palliative service that the charity provides doesn’t stop at inpatient hospice care. Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity also provides a wellbeing service, a befriending service, patient and family liaison, a lymphoedema service and Hospice at Home.

Maya Joseph Hussain, CEO at Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity, said: “This year we are celebrating our 50th anniversary and by leaving a gift to Cynthia Spencer Hospice in your Will, you will help us to carry on our vital work for many more years to come.

“Since the hospice opened in 1976, the number of people we have cared for has increased significantly and that figure is going to continue to grow. Therefore, all the support we receive is crucial and hugely appreciated by us all.

“This amazing national Hospice UK campaign continues to help raise awareness of palliative care and encourages people to talk about death and dying.

“Leaving a legacy will help to support the future of hospice care in Northamptonshire and help to provide a vital source of income that will make a real difference to the lives of our patients.”
