Local charity shines a light on festive goodwill
Age UK Northamptonshire would like to celebrate the generosity of the many kind people in Northamptonshire who took Christmas as an opportunity to spread a little joy to local older people. The charity estimates that this Christmas its staff have passed on nearly 400 gifts on behalf of local well-wishers. Every gift was purchased by a big-hearted person who wanted to make a lonely or vulnerable older person’s Christmas a little bit special. “For older people we are in touch with to know that someone has gone to the effort, expense and time to buy a Christmas present for a stranger is uplifting beyond measure,” says Chief Executive Chris Duff.
From retail chains to private individuals who arranged a Secret Santa at their workplace, Age UK Northamptonshire celebrates this show of Northamptonshire kindness. The charity particularly thanks Dunelm Wellingborough and their customers, Myton Food Group, Arnold Thomson Solicitors, Teamwork Trust, St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Northampton and Foodkind CIC, whilst not forgetting the people who prefer to remain anonymous.
Clients at The William and Patricia Venton Centre were particularly touched by the lovely messages in the handmade cards and little decorations sent by Year 6 and Reception pupils at Preston Hedges Primary School.
As a local charity, Age UK Northamptonshire needs support too and is grateful for any donations and fundraising that enables the charity to improve later life in Northamptonshire all year round.
