Popular fundraiser The Rust Bucket Rally has presented a mammoth £94,000 cheque to a much-loved local hospice charity.

The renowned annual charity challenge chose Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity as its sole beneficiary for its 2025 event.

The four-day convoy, which took place back in June and covered 2,500 miles, saw more than 70 teams drive across the Swiss Alps and Lakes in “rust bucket” cars that cost no more than £1,000 each to complete the challenge and raise much-needed money for charity along the way.

Not every car made it back, with some having to find an alternative route home, and anyone driving a convertible had to keep the roof down for the whole weekend, no matter what the weather!

Previously the fundraiser has travelled through Barcelona, Italian Dolomites, and Slovenia and has raised just over half a million pounds for local causes over the last decade.

The latest effort has raised an incredible £94,102.45 for Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity, which will make a huge impact in helping support palliative patients in West Northamptonshire and their families. The money was handed over to the charity at the recent Rust Bucket Rally Ball.

Community and Events Fundraiser Lead at Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity Michelle Morris said: “In addition to having a great time, all the teams were raising money for Cynthia Spencer Hospice as so many of the participants had been touched by the work at the hospice and wanted to give something back.

“The group raised an incredible £94,102.45 for which we are all very thankful for.  A lot of hard work goes into the Rally behind the scenes to make the event happen and we are very grateful to the time and commitment put in by the committee and everyone taking part.  Thank you so much to The Rust Bucket Rally Class of 2025, we are so proud of everything you have done and still continue to do to support our charity.”
