Making your views count
"Have your voice echo around the corridors of power!"
An important aspect of Chamber lobbying is giving your views on government policy and forthcoming legislation. The Chamber is regularly invited to respond to government consultation papers – from local, regional and national agencies – that outline proposals for new legislation that could affect your business, from employment regulations to transport policy to tax changes.
Q: How Do I have My Say?
A: We talk to our members every day, listening to what issues are having an impact on their businesses and hearing their ideas and opinions. This naturally helps us gauge views on business issues, but your voice can heard even louder through a Specialist Interest Group
Specialist Interest Groups
These “virtual” panels are designed to use a minimum amount of your time and have the maximum impact.
They are made up of Chamber members with an interest in certain areas, such as the environment, and red tape & legislation They act as sounding boards for new and proposed government policy and enable you to make your views known quickly and effectively, your comments are then fed to the British Chambers of Commerce so that Northamptonshire's views are represented nationally. In the past, panel members have helped influence many ‘big issues’ including pensions legislation, & contentious tax & employment regulation such as the Working Time Directive. The Panels are divided into interest themes for you to choose from and you can join as many as you like, some of the panels available include:
