Kettering Museum and Art Gallery goes National
Kettering Museum and Art Gallery has been shortlisted for the National Museum and Heritage awards for ‘Project on a Limited Budget’, for the exhibition ‘Collection Connections’.
The exhibition has already had success after winning the Best Exhibition award at the Northants Heritage Awards, and the Museum and Gallery staff are extremely thrilled that it has been shortlisted. The full National Museum and Heritage awards shortlist can be viewed online at http://awards.museumsandheritage.com/awards-2017/
The winners will be announced by comic, Ian Moore, at a glittering ceremony on the evening of Wednesday 17 May at 8 Northumberland Avenue, London.
The Collection Connections exhibition ran from 9 January – 13 February 2016 at the Alfred East Art Gallery and celebrated Kettering’s local art history by showing the connections within the gallery’s collection amongst other artists.
The exhibition linked up the artists according to their interesting lives, art education and exhibitions they were involved in. Visitors were also asked to add to the findings with their own personal stories to see if other links can be found.
Guy Holloway, Head of Corporate & Cultural Services at Kettering Borough Council, said: “It is a huge achievement to be nominated for an award at this national event and we are very proud. The 'Collection Connections' exhibition is just one example of a full programme of exciting and varied events provided by Kettering Museum and Gallery, with exhibitions regularly celebrating the area’s history and local artists.”
