The collapse in the price of oil over the past 3 years has been nothing less than a violent shock to all within the industry, causing many to either postpone or cancel projects at home and around the world. For countries dependent upon its revenue, budgets have had to be recalculated to reflect a new reality far closer to $50 a barrel, than the $100+ that we all had become accustomed to.

However, from the recent historic lows at the beginning of last year there has been some recovery, prompting a number of producers to once again look to the future and to begin moving forward.

This is not to say that a flurry of new starts is imminent, with the glut of cheap oil available as well as geopolitics continuing to deter many. What is being seen is the expansion of maintenance, service and repair contracts for well-heads, pipelines and facilities, crucial to maintaining output and being prepared for any upturn in the market.

Nowhere is this more apparent than in the Caspian’s oil & gas industry, which remains one of the most important globally for exploration and development. With sanctions still effecting Russia’s deep water oil fields, it is Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan that are now the more active in the area, albeit both looking to provide to differing markets.

UK companies however, are not the only ones looking to benefit from this upturn in activity with every contract awarded being hard won. And whilst enquiries are free, winning new orders requires ever increasing time and effort. In this environment, a partner who is already talking to the region’s major players is critical to ensuring your company is always considered for any contract work or equipment supply.

Northamptonshire Chamber, in partnership with Trudos International, bring you a seminar that will help you understand what is happening and why, and what opportunities this change in attitude brings with it for UK businesses.
