Rolton Group to help footballer Gary Neville with Zero Carbon Home
February 4th, 2010
Item submitted by: Rolton Group LtdPlans have been recently submitted on behalf of England and Manchester United footballer, Gary Neville for a new innovative Zero Carbon house to be built in Bolton.
Rolton Group of Rushden, Northants has been working with the client and design team on the new Zero Carbon Home by providing advisory services and design for the energy and thermal strategy. The proposed building is so advanced, it is anticipated that the Government will use the scheme as a benchmark for all future zero-carbon developments.
The kitchen will be the “heart” of the development with several wings — which have titles such as eat, relax, entertain, work, sleep and play — arranged around the central area.
The house includes energy saving features as well as a number of renewable energy technologies including a wind turbine, solar panels and ground source heating.
The project’s lead designer, Make Architects, says it would be the first zero carbon house in North West England, if planning permission is granted.
Stuart Fraser, partner at Make Architects, said: "It has been a privilege to be given a brief which has allowed us to truly test the boundaries of current sustainable thinking in terms of design and construction and to work alongside some leading experts in this field."
